Episode 121 "National Day of the Cowboy"
The Historic Fort Worth Stockyards Celebrates the American Cowboy Heritage during "National Day of the American Cowboy". The Fort Worth Herd is a non-profit organization that keeps our western heritage alive with a cattle drive down exchange avenue twice daily. We also visit with members of "The Legends of Texas" , a historical group that serves as a living history of the 1800"s. Also, blind artist John Bramblitt travels the world teaching the painting tecnique that he has developed. He tells us his inspiring story of how painting brought him out of the depths of depression. The Spirit Horse Center in Corinth Texas is a research-based equine-assisted healthcare program, that works to develop effective therapy methods for all types of disabilities and military veterans, using horses to foster relationship building and problem solving. A two-year study showed autism levels moved from a rating of "severe" to that of "mild/moderate" in just six months of weekly therapy sessions. As a fundraiser for the program the RFD-TV’s “Cowgirl Chicks” and singer Cody Dell Akridge gave special performances. (air date 7-27-13)

The story of Tammy Sronce, Multiple World and National Champion CMSA Cowgirl who sustained a head injury in January, 2012, as a result of an impact from a drunk driver. Before the accident she and her horse “Handsome” have helped to establish a program called Freedom Horses, a non-profit organization devoted to enabling women of domestic violence and assault to gain confidence and courage through equine therapy. Episode 114) “Have you heard of HERDA?” Thunder was out of a 20+ year old mare that had roughly 17+ healthy foals to her resume. She was bred one last time and the resulting foal was a cute bay colt with a double diamond. At age two his skin began to detach from his body and his sores would not heal.
